The childcare system is governed by Executive Decree No. 19-253 of 16 September 2019 setting the conditions for the creation, organization, operation and control of childcare facilities.

The different types of childcare facilities:

• The crèche that welcomes children aged three (3) months to three (3) years;
• The kindergarten that welcomes children aged more than three (3) years to less than six (6) years;
• The "multi-reception" establishment that receives children aged three (3) months to less than six (6) years.

Institutions are obliged to accommodate children with disabilities, if their condition does not require them to be accommodated in adapted units, in order to facilitate their gradual and total integration into the social environment.

Establishments for children with disabilities benefit from incentives granted by the State in terms of pedagogical support, including additional training.
